Workshop Overview
In this workshop, I’ll introduce you to the world of gourds. How they grow, how they’re used, and why they make such beautiful art pieces. Everyone will get the hands-on experience of cleaning one “dirty” gourd, and then I’ll provide clean, pre-strung ornamental gourds for you to decorate. I’ll teach you how to engrave designs using engravers and Dremels, and I’ll demonstrate how to apply gold leaf. I’ll also bring paints, acrylic markers, and supplies for simple decoupage techniques so you can personalize your gourds in whatever style feels right to you. Each participant will receive two gourds to decorate, with more available to purchase. If you’d like to make your ornament more personal, please send me one photo of someone or something you love, and I’ll print it onto special rice paper for you to use during class. This can be a meaningful way to honor a lost loved one and often feels very therapeutic. Please email your photo no later than 12pm on Dec 5th
